This is a dark & sometimes disturbing journey that Celeste travels on, but one that draws you in & stays with you. All the way to the end.I'm very glad I read this book, but it is not for everyone. Only Pretend is supposed to be a dark read. The main man in the story rides the line between villain and antihero A LOT. It was different than a lot of the other capture books I’ve read and I’m not sure if I liked that or not. I think it has to be considered a dark erotica read, but I have read others that were far more erotic and far more darker/kinkier. Romance/Sex would be pushing it a little in my opinion. A majority of the book lacked in the romance department.
Oooh I loved this. I haven't gotten into a lot of the darker romances yet, but this one tickled the sweet spot for me. Just dark enough without going over the top and making it horrifying.
I loved how conflicted Leonide felt, even from the beginning, and how Celeste fought to be a survivor instead of a victim. Tight writing really brought it all together for me. I don't know, it just struck a chord.
Definitely will be looking out for more work from Nora )
This story had me on the edge of my seat. I kept wondering how far Leonide would go with Celeste. The situations are explicit, sexy, and definitely dark dark DARK. Celeste wanted change... well. She got it. She got it in spades. A great standalone novel, though I'd love to see what happens after everything.

I did like the story, but I don't like one sided viewpoints. Maybe it won't bother other readers. I'm not saying that this book is a waste of time because it's not. I wanted to give it a 4 star review, but I couldn't. I felt like I was cheated out of a full story.
There were two chapters of Leonide's view, but it wasn't enough. I wanted more. I wanted to know the exact moment he began to have feelings for Celeste. I wanted to know his thoughts and struggles. I wanted to feel everything he was feeling. The story would have had more of an impact had both views been told, and I probably would have given the book a 4 star review or more. However, since it's only half of a story I had to rate it a 2 star.
I found this author through another authors recommendation. Boy am I happy I did. I have been furiously devouring her books for the last week. I love how the darkness in her men turns into the exact darkness the women need to fall in love. This one is no different.

Ok this one was actually pretty hard for me to rate. While I did enjoy the story I'm still having problems processing how a woman could fall in love with someone who abused her almost till the end of the book. Especially when she fought so hard for her freedom. Usually I love these type of books because you see growth of the character(s). Not so much here. I debated between a 3.5 and a 4. Finally giving a four because the author kept me engaged till the very end. I HAD to know what happened.
For the most part I liked Celeste. She started out being a doormat but underneath she had grit. She was constantly fighting for her freedom. Which is why I was so disappointed with her willingness to change for a man >.< I hated Leonide from the beginning and sadly my opinion did not change. Ok, yes he was hot but really? Who wants a man that degrades you and wants to make you a barbie wife?
Now saying all that, Nora Flite did a fanstastic job with the writing.
What can I say, I was conflicted through most of the book. These dark kidnapping stories really aggravate and frustrate me. I know this stuff really happens and it scares me and makes me want to put my daughter in a bubble and also makes me shudder, but also thankful that I made it out of my 20's with some of the stupid stuff I did. Leonide kidnaps women and trains them to be "perfect" wives. He sells them. That is just frightening on so many levels. Gives me shivers. Celeste was down on her luck. She was living with her boyfriend and they worked together in his food truck. For whatever reason, he decides to break up with her and fire her. So in one day, she becomes homeless, unemployed and without a boyfriend. He told her she was boring. I suspect, he was the boring one, because, really, we just react to what the guy is doing. If they make sex pleasant, then we react. So obviously he was doing something wrong. But she didn't have enough confidence to give him a piece of her mind. Supervises to be someone else, she colors her hair blond and hoes to Vegas. She meets Leonide in the casino and is charmed by him. But everything changes for her in that one moment. It turns out, she is pretty strong and feisty. She challenges Leonide at every turn. It really is a gripping book. One I had a hard time putting down. Some have called it an HEA, but you have to read it and decide for yourself. I am not sure if I feel that way. I think complete freedom and the ability to make your own choices is the only true HEA.
